UK Payments to the EU in 2017

In 2017 the UK made an estimated gross contribution (after the rebate) of £13.0 billion. (£18.6b less £5.6b rebate). The UK received £4.1 billion of public sector receipts from the EU, so the UK’s net public sector contribution to the EU was an estimated £8.9 billion.

In 2016 the UK government paid £13.1 billion to the EU budget, and EU spending on the UK was forecast to be £4.5 billion. So the UK’s ‘net contribution’ was estimated at about £8.6 billion.
