The ILO website has a video where it interviews two people from each country, a bank employee and a factory worker.  They state their monthly incomes as:

  • 17,000 pesos for the Bank Employee. That is 204,000 pesos per year.
  • 5,000 peso for the Factory Worker. That is 60,000 pesos per year.

It also stated that the average monthly salary was 8,280 peso per month, or 99,360 peso per year. With an average family income of 206,000 pesos, it seems that the average family has the equivelent of 2 people working full time.

A calculator on the BBC website has different countries rates, (The world average is $1,480) and you can enter your own Pre Tax Income to see how it compares:

I entered these MONTHLY examples:

  • 11,000 The Result: Your wage is $405.  Your wage is 145% of the Philippines average and 27% of the world average. These figures are in PPP$
  • 7,580 The Result: Your wage is $279.  Your wage is 100% of the Philippines average and 19% of the world average. These figures are in PPP$

PPP = Purchasing power parity which is the ratio between the currencies of two countries at which each currency when exchanged for the other will purchase the same quantity of goods as it purchases at home excluding customs duties and costs of transport. Merriam Webster Dictionary
