Russia’s List of Unfriendly Countries.

Russia has a list of “unfriendly countries”, following its invasion of Ukraine.

There are 46 countries on this list, and they include:

  • All 27 EU member states,
  • Australia,
  • Canada,
  • Japan
  • South Korea,
  • Switzerland,
  • Taiwan,
  • United Kingdom,
  • United States,
  • Plus another 11.

The reasons for being on the list include:

Supplying weapons to Ukraine, so that Ukraine can defend itself.

Not supporting Russia in their “Special Military Action” with Ukraine. This is primarily true for the Eastern European countries that were formally under the control of the Russian led Soviet Union.

Special Military Action = Illegal Invasion.

Hungary and Slovakia are on this list because of their participation in policies of the EU, which they are members of.

Hungary 2003 referendum:

83.8% of voters, in the 12 April 2003 referendum, voted to join the European Union.
Hungary subsequently joined the EU on 1 May 2004, along with Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and 6 other countries.

Slovakia 2004 referendum:

92.46% of voters, in the 16-17 May 2003 referendum, voted to join the European Union.

Slovakia subsequently joined the EU on 1 May 2004, along with Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and 6 other countries.

Following the Soviet-backed coup of 1948, Czechoslovakia became a satellite state of the Soviet Union and member of the Warsaw Pact.

In 1989, the Velvet Revolution peacefully ended Communist rule in Czechoslovakia.

On January 1, 1993, Czechoslovakia separated peacefully into two new countries, the Czech Republic and Slovakia (independent state).

Slovakia became an independent state on 1 January 1993 after the peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia.
