Average Wages in the United Kingdom..
How much has the average wage changed in the UK ?
In 1980 the average wage was £5,720 and the average house cost £22,677
In 2015 the average wage was £29,934 and the average house was £188,566
In 1980 it was 3.96 years wages to buy a house
In 2015 it was 6.30 years wages to buy a house
But, when compared to some other things, how do wages really compare?
Lets assume the following are bought every week:
20 Litres of Petrol, 5 Pints of beer, 5 Loaves of bread and 14 Pints of Milk
In 1980 that would cost £591.76 or 10.3% of income.
In 2015 that would cost £1,901.12 or 6.4% of income.
Some things have become cheaper.
