Birthplace Citizenship gives citizenship to someone who is born in that country, irrespective of the citizenship of the parents.

  • Birthplace Citizenship (Jus Soli – right of soil) is available mainly only in the Americas, although a few other countries also permit it.
  • Births in most other countries end up with the child having the same Citizenship as the parents. (Jus Sanguinis – right of blood)
