Subclass 300 PMV and 309 Partner Visas are now being granted without leaving Australia.

A temporary concession has been granted for certain applicants, who are in Australia, and are not able to travel offshore to be granted the visa because of COVID-19 travel restrictions.

The concession applies to certain applicants for the following Family visa subclasses:

  • 101 Child visa
  • 102 Adoption visa
  • 445 Dependent Child visa
  • 300 Prospective Marriage visa
  • 309 Partner visa

The changes were to come into effect on 27th February 2021.

The first of the subclass 309 visas granted to applicants onshore in Australia, that I have seen, were granted on the 1st March 2021.

These applicants were mainly in Australia on visitor visas.

This temporary concession will cease when the COVID concession period ends.

Some 309 applicants are happy that they did not get a visa grant early,  having to then leave and try to get back,  with a high flight and quarantine cost.

Now they just get the visa and don't need to leave.
