The first confirmed case of the COVID-19 Coronavirus in the United States was reported to be on January 20, 2020.
A 35 year old man had returned to Washington State on January 15, after visiting his family in Wuhan, China. This was before the U.S. began screening for the virus at major airports.
On January 19, 2020, after 4 days of a cough and subjective fever, he went to a clinic in Snohomish County, Washington, where he was tested.
The next day, January 20, 2020, his test was confirmed positive for the coronavirus now named COVID-19, by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The first COVID-19 Deaths in the United States
February 6, 2020: A death in Santa Clara, California, was declared the first COVID-19 fatality in the US after an autopsy in April 2020. (This location is about 850 miles from the first case reported in Snohomish County)
February 26, 2020: Two COVID-19 related deaths were reported at the Life Care Centre nursing home in Kirkland, Washington. (This location is about 25 miles from the first case reported in Snohomish County)

This was 23,927 more deaths than the month before.
There were 1,454,397 people in USA with the active virus, with 15,935 in critical condition, after 1,143,334 from the total of 2,727,853 cases, have been reported as recovered.
As at Friday 31st July 2020, there have been 156,747 reported deaths in USA from the COVID-19 coronavirus.
This was 26,625 more deaths than the month before.
There were 2,221,570 people in USA with the active virus, with 18,687 in critical condition, after 2,327,572 from the total of 4,705,889 cases, have been reported as recovered.
