The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The reason for the arrest warrant is his responsibility for war crimes committed by Russian forces in Ukraine during his war against the Ukrainian people.
The court’s accusation centered around the alleged deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia. Moscow said the warrant had no legal bearing on the Russian president.
In Russia, a presidential decree has been issued that essentially facilitates the adoption of the Ukrainian children by Russian families.
In most countries such actions are called kidnapping.

The exact number of Ukrainian children being sent to Russia is unclear. The Ukrainian government has officially identified 16,221 deported children as of early March.
Other estimates suggest the real number may be as high as 400,000.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba recently said the forced transfer of thousands of Ukrainian children constituted “probably the largest forced deportation in modern history” and “a genocidal crime”.
