I have noticed that some lists show up to 75 countries, but the above source only shows 54. The difference is due to some Nations having individual countries making up extra numbers. Examples are the UK being the single member, but this also includes England, Scotland, Wales, etc..
Most of the Commonwealth countries are Republics, and do NOT have the British Monarchy as their Head of State.

2013: The Gambia withdraws from the Commonwealth
2014: Fiji was reinstated as a full member of the Commonwealth
2016: The Maldives withdrew from the Commonwealth, on 13th October 2016, after mounting pressure from the 53-nation group over corruption and deteriorating human rights in the Indian Ocean state.
2018: The Gambia rejoined the Commonwealth, on 8 February 2018, almost five years after leaving the organisation.
