From June 2010 The Times and The Sunday Times, in the UK, will be charging readers to access all online content.
Cost will be US$2 for a week, or US$1 for one day.
From early in 2011, the New York Times will also start to charge for its online content.
The Wall Street Journal Asia, already charges a $1.99 weekly subscription for full content, but the Times appears to be the first to charge, without giving any news free….
This is something that others in the newspaper industry will be watching very closely.
If all online news becomes chargeable content, it will be interesting to see how the many web-blogs that copy news stories will go, in regard to copyright.
