Qantas and Emirates are forming a global partnership.
Qantas and Emirates fly 14 times a day from Australia to Dubai, and provide ‘one-stop’ access to 65 destinations across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
On 17 January 2013, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) granted interim authorisation for the proposed Qantas and Emirates partnership. Interim authorisation means that Qantas and Emirates can now coordinate on pricing, sales and capacity on certain routes (excluding services to/from destinations such as New Zealand, where regulatory approval is still pending).
The Qantas and Emirates partnership is due to commence on 31 March 2013.
To mark the occasion, Two Airbus A380s, one from each carrier, Qantas and Emirates, flew over Sydney Harbour on Sunday March 31.
The 10 minute flyover included two low passes by the two superjumbos travelling in tight formation over the Harbour Bridge at a height of about 500 metres.
