Visit Mt. Pinatubo from Angeles City..
Mount Pinatubo is easily visited from Angels City, where many tours start from.
Mount Pinatubo is an active stratovolcano, with an elevation: 1,486 metres, is in the Cabusilan Mountains on the island of Luzon, near the tripoint of the Philippine provinces of Zambales, Tarlac, and Pampanga.
The Volcano last erupted in 1991, with the Clark Air Base and Angeles City (population of 331,000 people) being affected by the resulting ash cloud. Many in the Clark / Angeles City area were evacuated.
847 people were reported as being killed by the 1991 eruption.
8,000 houses were completely destroyed, with another 73,000 damaged.
With many of the American service members and their families being evacuated, Clark Air Base changed substantially and was ultimately abandoned by the United States.
This left the area reliant on Tourism.
Amasya Guesthouse, Angeles City to Mt. Pinatubo in 4 easy steps
The trek to Mt. Pinatubo is one of the best trails in the Philippines. The scenery changes at every bend. The 4×4 jeepney ride is an adventure in itself as well. We want our guests to be able to maximize their trip here in Angeles City so we created this little guide.
As of Feb 2015, 4×4 jeeps can get a lot closer to the volcano crater. The walk to get to the crater is now around 20-30 mins instead of the 2 hours mentioned in the Guide..
