The Philippines Underground River National Park was established as a national park in 1971, and the Puerto Princesa Underground River has been a place to visit since the 1800’s, and currently attracts thousands of visitors each year.
It became a World Heritage site in 1999, and became one of the Seven New Natural Wonders of the World in 2012.
The Underground river itself is 8.2km long, although most tourists do not get to see the full length, being taken only a short distance into the caves.
