Donald Trump Wins Presidential Electoral College Vote..
The Electoral College Vote on 19th December 2016 gave a slightly different result to the 8th November 2016 US Presidential Election result, with 7 “Faithless Electors” choosing to vote with an alternative candidate.
Donald Trump received 304 of the Electoral College votes (2 less than the original 306) while Hillary Clinton received 227 (5 less than the original 232)
The Republicans who had selected Donald Trump had TWO Faithless Electors
Instead of voting for Trump, one voted for John Kasich and one to Ron Paul.
The Democrats who had selected Hillary Clinton had FIVE Faithless Electors
Instead of Voting for Clinton, three voted for Colin Powell, one for Faith Spotted Eagle and one for Bernie Sanders.
Two other electors also attempted to switch their votes from Clinton but were replaced by an Elector that stood by Clinton. This happened in Minnesota and Colorado. The Elector for Maine also tried to switch from Clinton, but was persuaded to stay with a Clinton vote.
What is a Faithless Elector
When US voters went to the polls on November 8, 2016 they were determining which party’s official electors would receive the state’s allocation of electoral votes.
Electors are selected by their parties. There are 538 of them and these are the people who will vote in the president.
It is expected that these electors will follow the public votes, but there can be exceptions. Those that choose another candidate are called Faithless Electors.
There have been 157 faithless electors in US history.

71 electors changed their votes because their candidate died before the ballot could take place.
in 1836, 23 Democratic electors refused to support Richard M Johnson as vice-president because he had lived with an African American woman.
That leaves 63 for other reasons that can be seen at:
